yes i think all we need to do is work on the rules. who ever is runing the track that day needs to tell people what is going on. mabe put up more signs. say the rules over the loud sperker erver so offen. then mabe people will get the point. but the main thing here is we need someone to enforce the rules.

I haven't raced nitro in a long time, but none of you guys have mentioned this yet- You want to marshall during practice so you can check out the surface of the track. You may find areas you would want to avoid during racing. You just might find that bump or hole in the track that was screwing you up during practice and then you will have a better idea of how to avoid it during racing.
You could also see how the faster guys are getting around. If you are one of the faster guys you could help out some of the slower guys with their line.
Try it some time!!!!!! Be Nice!!!!!!! Razz

You posted a rule and you lost people because they didnt want to pull their own weight and do the right thing.

You dont enforce the rule and you lose people because there is no point in going to practice when you have to baby your car around the track so you dont wreck.

Damned if you do,damned if you dont.

I see and hear about it all the time. People who get upset because there is no one out there to correct their car yet those same people are the ones that when they are done, they continue for 2-4 tanks or head right back to the pit room and wrench, get food,or relax.

It laziness, simple as that. With that said,I will admit that I have done the same thing although not very often, none the less I am still guilty. Run a tank, head back to the pit room to wrench. I dont do it often but I have done it and most of the time it was only because there were 2-3 cars on the track with people out there.
But I have also been out there for 20-30+ minutes either alone or with 1-2 other people while 10+ cars have been on the track and I stayed because the other people were either very young or not in the best shape to chase cars around and I wasnt about to leave them out there on their own.

Safety is also another issue. Granted,a Slash wont do much in the way of damage to someone. But a buggy or truggy will and I have learned that many times over. With the large number of people there just 'bashing'. Being out there with a large number of weekend racers gets very wild and I am sure many will agree.

With all of that said. My idea is from another track where I raced a couple of years ago. You could only practice if there was a clip or spot open. 10 or 11 clips max. If they were all gone, you had to wait. Have them put up somewhere or have someone hand them out. Now that might solve the the issue with 20 people on the stand running on the track. But as for the marshal issue. Well thats going to need a stronger hand.

I can understand and agree with someone standing at the door like a bouncer. Put your car down and marshal for 5-10 minutes. If you refuse, then your done for the night. Simple as that. You dont have to leave, but you and your car will not be back on the track for the rest of the evening.

Many wont like that. Many wont practice because of it because they feel they are to busy or to good to go out there and marshal. But the way I look at it.....Tough. Dont practice or pay someone off to do it for you.

Well--ventured out there for some Saturday practice and nothing has gotten any better. Only 2 or at most three of us marshalling on a consistent basis. There had to be at least 15 nitro buggys and truggys running tank after tank and no helping out. It seemed only the electric guys were marshalling. Go ahead and prove me wrong.

Just wanted to bump this thread and get some more people possibly reading all of these suggestions and gripes.

O' well Crying or Very sad

This is one reason why I don`t go to Saturday practice during the winter . This will not get better unless Bernie , Jon , Mike , or whoever is there enforce the one tank and marshal rule . No enforcement nobody will follow the rules . Kinda like when we were kids . Very Happy

Unfortunately Saturday practice is about the only convenient time for me to run my toys. I've talked extensively about this to bernie and he is fully aware of the lack of marshalling/helping out on the track. Don't want to speak for him, but I get the feeling things have been tried, but won't change anytime soon.

Just wanted to bump the conversation to keep people informed on the stubbornness of people who run lap after lap, then retreat inside and don't help out. This issue really burns me.

Oh , I`m sure everyone knows . Been like this a long, long time , even at the old place . For some reason the electric crowd know how to follow the rules . IMO Bernie doesn`t enforce it because he doesn`t want to piss anyone off and lose more nitro guys . The nitro crowd already lost Wed night racing to the electric guys . For some reason I never liked racing nitro at LH because of this and other reasons , why I race my nitro stuff elsewhere .

I am new to LH and rc tracks in general but not new to other forms of racing like motocross. Here is my perspective as a newbie.

The good stuff, everyone is real nice, got some good pointers, borrowed a tool or two, staff was helpful and nice, havent had anything walk off.

The bad, very few people marshall, had to get my own car on a few occasions. The people that do marshall seem to be the same people everytime. When there are young kids out there they dont pay much attention as they are focused on one part of the track right next to them, you have to look around every once in awhile. Seems to be to many people on the track even to the point where there wasnt room to get on the poduim to drive and see the track. Also there is no formal check in procedure when you arive.

Now my complaints are not worth anything unless i give some ideas. Not looking to get flamed here but just my opinion. I think if the the people that work there and run the place just got involved things may get better without any major rule system.

How about a formal sign in, a hand stamp or wristband to make sure you guys are collecting all the money that is owed to you as business owners. What about 30 minute track time and 30 minute non-track time throught the day. So for a 5 hour practice day you would get 2.5 hours track time. Or how about you charge $15 to practice and hire/train some capable kids to marshall for cash. With all the damn money i spend on this car whats 15 bucks to practice and have a blast.

I will continue to come to the place and support the hobby store. Three of my friends are getting cars as they have come with me to check the place out and they love it. If marshalling doesnt get better, we will just take turns between our group of 4 marshalling our groups cars.

There's a reason I haven't been back there in a year. At the store they tell you how helpful everyone is at the track. When you get to the track, it's pretty much every man for himself. Granted some guys will help lend a tool, but as far as helping with setups or how to drive better, nope. Hey new guy, go marshall and you will learn. Great for aerobics, not so good for trying to learn. Granted as a new guy I did more than my share of crashing, but I always marshalled after my run, and more times than not during my run.

To those running the show, what does it tell you whe people would rather chase the dogs around the yard than run at your track?

There are a lot of guys that are willing to help you out, myself included. Just ask. Almost none of us work for the track, but are willing to help out with setups, driving, etc. But if we don't know what you need, how can we help?
